Lent with taste!
Concerning the Lent embracing 7 weeks up to the Easter Sunday the Chef of the Grand Hotel Emerald is ready to offer his specially worked-out «Lent Menu». He excluded from this menu such products as meat, milk, fish, eggs and the like based on the canons of church. A lot of Lent dishes are cooked using the famous Old Russian recipes from the Cookeries of 18th – 19th centuries. Everyone can find something special up to his taste: e.g. Sauerkraut salad with Apples and Cranberries or White Radish Salad with Apples and Honey; taste onion Soup with Garlic Croutons or Lent Green Soup (Schi). For those who are fond of traditional European cuisine our Chef recommends to try: Asparagus fried with potato and Zucchini or Juicy Apples baked with honey and Raisins. If you follow the Lent strictly choose Buckwheat with Vegetables or Stewed Marrow with Mushrooms. To finish the meal have a glass of genuine Russian village Beverage – Fruit-and-Berry (Raspberry or Cranberry) Kissel (starch jelly).
